It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of Saturday’s huge UFC main event or last weekend’s feast of top level UKMMA, but it’s important to remember grass roots, amateur MMA where no-one is doing it for the money or the fame, just the love of the game and an opportunity to test themselves.
Just such an event goes down in our neck of the woods this Saturday, with FFC looking to crown two champions in their second, all amateur show.
The main event sees Scottish Hit Squad fighter, Paul Craig (3-0 am) facing off against Spartans’ Carlos Dunbar (0-1, am)* for the FFC Light Heavyweight strap with another SHS fighter, David McDonald (3-1 am) facing Asylum’s William McCurdy (6-2, am) for the Lightweight title.
With gold on the line and a capacity crowd expected, it’s sure to be a night of awesome action from some promising fighters representing some of the country’s most respected gyms.
