Following on from his win against Yves Edwards at UFC Fight For The Troops 3 last week, Yancy Medeiros has been handed an indefinite suspension from the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority (KBWA). No official reason has been given for the suspension, however what is known is that Medeiros will need to appear before the KBWA at an upcoming meeting and the word on the street, or social media to be more precise, is that he has tested positive for a banned substance.
We can of course neither confirm nor deny this fact and since the KBWA does not meet again until 15th January it may be some time before any official statement is forthcoming. This will no doubt be a blow to Medeiros in the wake of him celebrating his first win under the UFC banner after suffering disappointment in his debut against Rustam Khabilov. If it is true that he has failed the post fight drugs test the likely scenario is that the Edwards fight will be overturned to a No Contest, once again leaving Yancy winless in the Octagon.
We will bring you more on the story if and when it becomes available.
