Miesha Tate replaces injured Cat Zingano as Ultimate Fighter coach opposite Ronda Rousey

Miesha Tate has stepped in as a last minute replacement for the injured Cat Zingano as opposing TUF 18 coach to Women’s Bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey… much to the champ’s surprise.

Zingano injured her knee in training and has been ruled out of TUF and her proposed title shot at the end of the year.

We wish Cat all the best in her recovery and as swift a return to action as possible.

Tate steps in as the most marketable opponent for Rousey, despite coming off a TKO loss to Zingano earlier this year. Given their ongoing rivalry and Tate’s access to the Team Alpha Male crew for her coaching team, it’s probably the best short notice pick – especially given that TUF has started filming.

Tate had been set to face Liz Carmouche at UFC on FOX 8 but no replacement opponent for GirlRilla has been finalised as yet.

Cough. *Julie Kedzie* Cough.

In any case, both Rousey and Tate have embraced the change in plans with characteristic confidence and the upcoming season of bantamweight action from both guys and girls looks set to be one of the most interesting TUF seasons to date.
