The UFC has removed a further 7 fighters profiles from their website. Although this is not official confirmation of fighters leaving the company, in practice it is usually a reliable indicator.
This will likely not come as a surprise to many given Garcia’s recent 0-5 run in the organisation. Even though he was well known for exciting fights and had developed somewhat of a following off the back of that, his recent unanimous decision loss to Cody McKenzie appears to have brought the Bad Boy’s current spell with the UFC to an end.
All of the names on the list appear likely candidates to be cut, especially after it came to light a few months ago that the UFC is looking to trim it’s roster size by around 100 fighters.
Another WEC veteren who will likely be looking for a new employer is Bart Palaszewski. He was also on a bad run having lost his last 3 fights and going 1-3 with the promotion overall.
The list of 7 names are as follows: Leonard Garcia, Bart Palaszewski, Issei Tamura, Justin Lawrence, Reuben Duran, Sam Sicilia and Kurt Holobaugh. It certainly looks like the cuts are going to continue and we will endeavor to keep you as up to date as possible with any developments.
STOP PRESS: While writing this it has been confirmed that Leonard Garcia is no longer with the UFC, so it should be safe to say that they other names are in a similar situation.
