You can’t be serious all the time. In the wake of a week of tragedy, division and controversy in the real world we feel like lightening the mood. One of the other themes in the popular zeitgeist this week has been conspiracy theories. So here is an MMA conspiracy theory which I present entirely for fun.
Or do I?
This Saturday, UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson headlines his second successive UFC on FOX card defending his title against The last Strikeforce champion, Gilbert Melendez.
This week, his walk out t-shirt for the show came out and reminded me of something I read once in a book.

Now, to me that looks a lot like the Eye of Providence atop a pyramid, albeit cunningly disguised as a BJJ triangle logo. That imagery, as seen on US currency and the reverse of the Great Seal of the USA is intrinsically associated with takes concerning the Illuminati and the New World Order.
So does this imply that Benson is in some way sponsored by the Illuminati, or is it merely a coincidence using some establish American imagery?
Stick with me.
Benson is a devout and vocal Christian, which doubtless pleases the powers that be in the FOX network, renowned for their tendency to promote right wing Christian values and propaganda.
If the Illuminati were going to have a TV channel, it would be FOX. If they were going to have an MMA champion, it would be a vocal Christian.
Now, look at Benson’s victories to date in UFC title fights – two extremely narrow decision wins over Italian American Frankie Edgar and one more comprehensive win over thug-life icon, marijuana smoker Nate Diaz.
Hardly the kind of people the NWO would want to see in a position of glory, indeed Benson’s MMA record of 18-2 can be said to refer to the bible passage Revelations 18-2 which reads “With a mighty voice he shouted: “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal” which surely points to Benson being the redeemer saving the UFC from the kinds of fighter who would associate with the Jersey Shore cast or use profane gestures and language.
Can I get a hallelujah?
So, am I saying that dubious back room powers have manipulated Benson’s career to get a good, vocal Christian as the UFC champion and the face of MMA on the FOX brand, for unspecified and sinister ends?
No, the very suggestion is insane, but it’s fun to play. It also goes to show that once you get the hang of this, you can make up such theories at terrifying rate.
If you are interested in Illuminati style nonsense, this article will give you a place to start.
